Paul W. Sonstein graduated from Temple University,
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1970 and graduated from Rutgers Law School,
Camden, New Jersey in 1973. He began his legal career in 1973 as a
federal prosecutor for the United States Department of Agriculture, Regulatory
Division in Washington, D.C. During his tenure with the federal government,
Mr. Sonstein worked closely with the Office of the United States Attorney
in many jurisdictions, prosecuting federal food and drug law violations.
In 1975, Mr. Sonstein entered private practice with
the law firm of Klein & Melletz in Camden, New Jersey. He handled
both civil and criminal litigation with an emphasis on personal injury, professional
negligence, product liability and workers' compensation law. In 1977
Paul became a partner in the firm, which then became known as Klein, Melletz & Sonstein. In
1978, he established his own law firm, known as Paul W. Sonstein, P.A. For
over 20 years Mr. Sonstein's firm specialized in tort law, including personal
injury, professional negligence, product liability, workers' compensation,
workplace/discrimination/harassment and environmental litigation. Mr.
Sonstein joined the firm of Sufrin Zucker Steinberg Waller & Wixted in
January, 2002, emphasizing the same areas of legal practice.
In 1988, Mr. Sonstein was appointed as Judge of
the Municipal Court of Logan Township, Gloucester County, New Jersey. He
presided over traffic matters, non-indictable criminal cases, domestic violence
matters and drug possession cases. He served in that capacity through
2000. Mr. Sonstein also served in similar judicial capacity as Conflicts
Judge in Monroe Township, Gloucester County for the same time period and
from 1996 through 2001 was also the Judge of the Municipal Court of Cherry
Hill Township, Camden County, New Jersey. He retired
from the bench in 2001 to concentrate all of his time and efforts in the
representation of the needs of his clients.
Mr. Sonstein served as a member of the New Jersey
Supreme Court Committee on Character and Fitness for the Board of Bar Examiners
from 1989 through 2001. He is also a member of the American Trial Lawyers
Association, Federal Bar Association, American Judge's Association, and Camden
County Bar Association.
